It's on Fire!

Do you watch "Rescue Me" on the FX channel?  No?  Yer missin' out!  Now that "The Shield" has come to an end (and what an end it was!), "Rescue Me" is probably the best show on FX and the newest season, which started last week, is picking up exactly where the previous season left off (even with a 17 month break).

The two most recent episodes have been hilarious with just enough navel gazing to give it that edge it's always had.  If you aren't watching this show you should be disappointed in yourself.

TV

I watch a lot of television, probably more than one human should watch in any given week.  But it's fun and it's cheaper than drinking.

Having said that, I hate fucking television.  Or at least the chuckleheads that are in charge of what we watch.  I'm tired of seeing incredibly well written, smart, well acted, and (in some cases) funny shows getting the shaft by the various networks.  This may be in the form of cancellation due to cost, (perceived) low ratings or just no faith in the product (I'm looking at you, FOX).

Every year there is at least one show that I really love that gets shit-canned for one reason or another.  This year it's "The Middleman," "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," "Prison Break," and "Pushing Daises."  And do I even have to mention the loss of "ER" and "Battlestar Galactica?"

Even new shows haven't really turned it up this year.  I've enjoyed "Kings" but that doesn't look like it's going too far.  I have to admit that while I worship at the TV dial of Joss Whedon, I can't really get behind his new show, "Dollhouse."  Now, I could get behind Eliza Dushku, but that's besides the point.

One bright spot in the last couple of months, however, is a new Comedy Central show called "Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire."  If you didn't see it debut last week watch for a replay and tune in this coming Thursday night.  You won't be disappointed, it's funny as hell.  Plus, in true Hot Broad You've Never Heard Of tradition, the show has given us India de Beaufort, proving once again there is a god of some type and he does, in fact, love men.

Movies

Do you like movies?  Because if you do, reserve May.  Every weekend in May will see the release of a totally kick-ass film this year.

But if May isn't enough for you then you still have the following films which will drop in June, July and August:

Also coming this summer is the much-anticipated live action G.I. Joe film, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.  Now, I want to like that film but if you've seen any of the trailers then you may be with me when I say that the level of suck around this film would make Dyson vacuums jealous.  We'll have to wait and see on this one I guess.
