Net Enigma.

So, where were these hot, 23 year old teachers when I was a 14 y/o middle-schooler?  This broad, Debra LaFave, is charged with having sex with a 14 y/o student in her apartment, her car and a school room.  And the kid and his cousin turned her in?

WTF?  If I was this kid and I tagged a hot, older broad I'd be out shouting it from the rooftops.  Out of earshot from the Police, of course.  It's something to brag about, not shout her in for some jail time.

I'm sure her husband isn't very happy about it, but if you can't keep a hottie like this satisfied, well, you're just asking for her to cheat on you.

Vote, bitches!

The Elite 8 round of "The 128 Hottest" is in desperate need of some more votes.  Hit that link up top and get on it!

Since this weekend is a holiday I'm going to let this round run and wrap it up on Monday so you have a couple days left.

Long weekend

Last weekend was a long one even though it was your standard 2-day.  My boy from way back, Ken, was in town.  We kicked off Friday night with a run up to Syracuse to hit the Dinosaur and get some food.

A couple beers later and a ton of beef we headed out and hit a couple bars at Armory Square.  I forget the name of the first one but we ended up at The Blue Boar.  They have a lot of tasty imports on tap and if you are ever in Syracuse, head down and check them out.  We left there and headed home, around midnight.

Saturday Todd had a shoot up in Rochester so how did Ken and I spend the day?  Drinking our way though a couple cases of beer and playing pool.  Of course, that was after sucking down a couple drafts and some burgers at Chili's.  Hit up Benchwarmers here in Ithaca for dinner, and more drinks, and after watching Bad Santa we wrapped up the day at midnight.  Nothing beats 12 hours of drinking on a Saturday.

Sunday was pretty laid back with just a beer at Applebee's but that was just the nightcap on a cool weekend.  Ken only gets up north about once a year, at most, and this is the first time he's been out of Florida in two years so it was cool to see him and catch up on some old times.

Round 5, The Elite 8 is now up and ready for your votes!  We're closing in on a winner for the 128 Hottest Chicks game and it's all up to YOU to pick who that is.  There are only 8 hotties left and the pictures have been taken up a notch for this round.

Hit the link banner at the top of the page and get to it!

Ice water

Scientists are getting ready to survey the waters under the Arctic.  There is a huge pool of water up north of Canada that is pretty much cut off from the rest of the ocean and they're guessing that they may find some interesting and unique critters in there.

But, wouldn't it be freakin' hilarious if they uncovered shit that made it look like an episode of the "X-Files" had come to life?  Or they discovered Atlantis or something?  Yeah, that would be fun.  And worth $1 Billion, I'm sure.

Party Time

My boy Ken is in town from Florida this weekend.  Should be a couple nights of drinking and maybe a trip up to 'Cuse for some Dinosaur.  Boo-Ya.

7 Days

It's just 7 days till Dave Chappelle in Atlantic City, bitches!  July 2nd I'll be in AC for his show followed by some drinking and maybe a trip to the craps table.  NJ better watch out because we're rolling with a full crew which even will include Buckle.

I'm sure we'll have some good pictures from that weekend!

Net Enigma. Beheading, the new fad.

Sleep deprivation, withholding hot meals, "threat interrogation" which involves yelling and throwing things across the room....This is what the US military approved and called "interrogation techniques" to be used on prisoners from the Afghan and Iraq war.

Huh. I called that work. Sounds very similar to the job position I held at CTI (Capital Telecommunications, Inc.) in York, PA.

Let's see, monthly billing cycle began at 5:00pm on the last day of the month (after a full 8 hour shift, mind you) and ran all night till the printing started around 5:00am or so. Sleep Deprivation - check.

One hour lunch break where you could go spend $7 or $8 a day. Withholding hot meals - nope.

Screw up a relatively small job, the owner of the company, George Kingsbury, would yell, swear and possibly throw a pencil or piece of paper. He'd threaten your job, tell you you lacked focus or a sense or priority and then ask you how you were going to fix your mistake. Threat interrogation - check.

Well, as Meatloaf said, two out of three ain't bad. I suggest that all the bleeding heart liberals out there that are complaining about our prisoner treatment in Iraq or Gitmo should spend 3 years working for CTI...then we'll see if they're still upset.

Eat up!

Mary-Kate Olsen has an eating disorder.  Seems funny when you think of all the tube steak men around the US would be willing to feed her.

Round 4, the Sexy Sixteen, of The 128 Hottest Chicks is now in the books.  Let me present to you the winners who now advance into the Elite 8.

Making the next round is Karen Cliche who defeated Marisa Tomei by 7 votes.  She'll face Britney Spears who, to no ones surprise probably, advances over Ashley Judd by 3 votes.  Spears may be able to go all the way, but I think Karen will be tough in the next round.

Gina Gershon got a 1 vote win over Carmen Elektra to move on to face Carly Pope who topped Tyra Banks by 9.  A surprise all through the bracket, Carly is looking strong and could be a spoiler going into the final 4 if she can get past Gina.

The two top vote getters in round 4 will face each other in the Elite 8.  Ali Larter went up by 13 votes over Vida Guerra who knocked off some good competition to get this far.  Ali goes up against Susan Ward who easily trounced Shakira by 17 votes!  Not to sway any voters, but this match-up may determine the winner of the game!

Our last match in the Elite 8 will be Alyssa Milano and Jordan.  Milano took 9 more votes than Sophia Bush to advance while Jordan got 7 more than Amber Arbucci.

We only had 29 votes total in this round and part of that is due to the fact that we've really been dropping the ball on the game this time around.  There are just 3 more rounds left, Elite 8, Final Four and the Championship.  So, stick with us, we're going to try and run these through rather quickly so that we can get the game done.

I also hope you all check out this next round because we're trying to turn up the heat on the pictures another notch!

It's a long weekend, bitches.  I'm out for another road trip and won't be back till late Sunday night some time.

Since I won't be around this weekend that gives you a couple more days to vote in round 4 of the 128 Hottest Chicks contest.  I'm cutting off votes Sunday night at midnight so gettem' in if you haven't already!

I'm also working on some updates to the pages that will replace the Party Up! and Vault pages.  I may have them up, at least partially, on Monday so stop back!

Net Enigma.  It's been a long time since I smelled something beautiful.

The Chronicles of Riddick opened this past Friday and last night I got my chance to see it. And I loved it!

I've been a big fan of Pitch Black since it released and I was psyched when I heard they were doing a sequel. Now, for those of you that have seen PB and liked it, this movie is quite a bit different in both the look and feel. It had a much bigger budget and you could definitely tell, but the story itself was quite a bit different also. I think this movie has much less of a "cult" feel to it but I think that if you remember the story is about the character Riddick and not about the monsters from PB, then you'll be fine.

As you can tell by the title, Riddick is back, but so are Jack and the Imam. As the movie begins, mercenaries hired by the Imam are out looking for Riddick. A new big bad in the universe, the Necromongers, are hopping from planet to planet destroying worlds and converting their inhabitants to "necros." The Imam's planet is next and he believes that Riddick is the man to help. So does Aereon, played by Dame Judi Dench. She comes to Riddick and basically tells him that he has a destiny to fulfill, whether he likes it or not. And again, Riddick becomes the reluctant hero. For a second movie that subplot isn't bad but if they do another, I hope they get past that plot point.

The first 15 or 20 minutes have a few pacing and continuity issues but they work themselves out just in time to take you on an hour and 40 minute action ride. And hey, that's what we came for, right?

Colm Feore plays Lord Marshal, the ruler of the Necromongers, while Karl Urban as Vaako and Thandie Newton as his wife, scheme to overthrow him. Riddick becomes a pawn in that scheme as they try to use his destiny to their advantage. Newton, as Dame Vaako, plays a superb villain, I just wish we'd seen a little more of her...and her character, if you know what I'm sayin'!

Jack, now know as Kyra, is played by "Angel" alumna Alexa Davalos and becomes Riddick's ass-kicking partner once again. Keith David is back as Imam.

The special effects for this movie rock. Quite a few of the main sets were actually built for this movie instead of having them be 100% CGI. It really works well for the actors when they have something real to react to. I think George Lucas would benefit from that lesson. For the most part the CGI that is in the movie is seamless. One or two fight sequences and a spot in the prison have some sketchy moments but it wasn't Van Helsing sketchy.

The overall plot was much more involved than Pitch Black and it definitely left you ready for another sequel, but that doesn't detract from the movie. As with PB, Vin's Riddick one-liners his way through a lot of scenes but many of them are funny and even the cheesy ones just help make the character of Riddick unique. And, contrary to other reviews that I've read, they weren't any worse than anything Sylvester "I AM the law" Stallone or Arnold "I'll be back" Schwartzenegger have spouted on the big screen.

Directed by Pitch Black's David Twohy, the movie has a very Art Deco feel to it. The Necromongers ships, statues and combat armor all have a grand feel to them and gives a cool, creepy look to the film. There are a few pieces of the movie that seem to pay homage to other great Sci Fi stories like Star Wars and Star Trek, but they aren't in-your-face and any similarities seem to add to the movie, not take away from it.

As I mentioned, the movie definitely has a set up for another sequel and I'd definitely be in line to see it. The acting was pretty solid, plenty of action, the F/X were superb, the story wasn't bad and the film just looked great on the big screen. I'll give this flick 3.5 wheels of cheddar out of 4. I'm docking them a half point for the first 15 minutes of story and for not quite fulfilling my need for more Thandie Newton.

President Reagan's Casket in the RotundaNet Enigma.  Working on other sites.

Today is a national day of mourning as President Reagan has his state funeral at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C.

Growing up in the '80's, President Reagan was the first president that I can remember.  I remember getting home from school in the 5th grade to find out he'd been shot, I remember him meeting with Gorbachev the first time to talk nuclear arms reduction and I remember when the Berlin Wall came down.

He had a pretty good run.

I'll get the email about round 4 out later today.

Broads

See where J.Lo got married?  What a tramp that bitch is.  This is what, her 3rd marriage?  To Marc Anthony who went and got a quickie divorce from his (former) wife so that he could get hitched to Lopez.

Man, what a fuckin' attention-starved broad that must be.  What's her malfunction anyway?

Net Enigma.  Holiday weekends.

Holiday weekends, we need more of them.  Say, every weekend?  Three days off is something I could get used to on a regular basis.

This past weekend, though, was Memorial Day weekend and the new World War II monument was dedicated in Washington, DC.  I remember when Clinton signed the order so that it could be built but I'd forgotten about it.  Glad to see that it's open.  I definitely need to get down to DC again and seeing this monument is just one more reason.

I Hate DVD's

Not the technology or watching them, but endless releases of the same movies.  Couple years back a cool movie called Pitch Black came out.  Being a huge fan of the whole SciFi/action/horror genre I watched it and quickly laid out my dead presidents to buy the DVD when it dropped.

The movie becomes a big cult hit and suddenly Vin Diesel is a huge star.  A sequel is announced, and I can't wait to see it in a couple weeks, and now the super special, Director's cut, unrated, free ticket, you'll-get-laid-if-you-buy-it-we-promise, DVD comes out this week.  Why?  Why not put that out the first time?

And it wasn't the only special DVD hitting this week;  it shared the shelves with special editions of  Spider-Man, Trainspotting, Ali, Das Boot and Cop Land.  They are all Director's cuts, special editions, Superbit or some such.

It's like the PC industry was in the late 90's.  You almost didn't want to buy some component because you knew that just around the corner would be something better, faster and have a new bell or whistle.  And I was thinking about all of that, cursing the DVD manufacturers and the studios as I stood in line to shell out my $18 for the Pitch Black Widescreen Unrated Director's Cut w/ free Chronicles of Riddick ticket...bastards.
