What Time is it?

Tomorrow is the first day of December so that means it must be time for Net Enigma's Advent Calendar of Porn, 2007 edition!

Trust me when I tell you that I've been searching for the best looking chicks all in the name of good cheer.  Make sure to stop back tomorrow, and all month.

The strike is still on but word is that the WGA is in talks with, well, someone, about not being on strike anymore.  No deal yet and if you've noticed, your TV shows are starting to wind down, possibly for the season.

I've already seen some grumbling that a few of the new shows may disappear permanently because of the shortened season.  It's unclear if they would have made it in a strike free environment, however.

One possible casualty is the final season of "Battlestar Galactica" if one of my fellow forum rats has his info straight.  Apparently they've only got about half of their final season written and the actors have been released.  It's in doubt if the final season will get completed and that's a fuckin' travesty!  Especially when the show has a built in end point and it's THAT close.

Not happy.

Skimpy Outfit

Remember back in September when this broad Kyla Ebbert did the news rounds complaining about how Southwest Airlines tried to throw her off a plane because they said her outfit was inappropriate?

Well, if the upskirt video with Matt Lauer wasn't enough  for you, fear not, there's a lot more of Kyla available to gawk at now that she's posed for Playboy.com.  Click on Kyla for all the picture goodness.  Happy Thanksgiving!!

It looks as though the server migration is complete.

Server Migration

Our host provider will be moving us to a new server sometime in the next 24 hours.  Although we are not supposed to see any down time, it might happen.

If you're interested in knowing how much longer you have before your favorite TV show falls victim to the WGA strike, head over to The TV Grid on the Los Angeles Times web site.

There is a surprisingly large list of shows that have already shut down production.  Others are close and only about three of your favorites have full seasons in the can, maybe, "Everybody Hates Chris" on the CW Network and "The Simpsons" and "American Dad" on FOX.

Some of the new shows that only had confirmed orders of 12 or 13 episodes may get them all done but some others won't.  What's unfortunate is those shows that were hoping to get picked up for the full 22 episodes may end up gone if the ratings were on the bubble.

In other news...

If you're looking to fill in your week nights after your regularly scheduled show goes on hiatus, get to your local Target before close of business Saturday.

They currently have an ass load of DVD TV series on sale.  All of the "Friends" seasons are $14.88 as are the first three seasons of "One Tree Hill" and the first two seasons of "Veronica Mars."

Also in the $14.88 range are seasons of "Nip/Tuck," "entourage," "Gilmore Girls," and "Firefly."

"Charmed" is in the mid $20 range, as I recall, and there are some newer seasons for under $40 like season 6 of "Smallville" and the final season of "Veronica Mars."  Both clocking in at $39.99.

If none of those sound good to you then you're a loser.  Oh, wait, I'm sorry, no you....well, yeah, you are.

However, if you can't stomach those choices then pick up the new 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition of The Princess Bride.  It's an absolute STEAL for $14.99 and if you buy it at Target it comes with a bonus CD of the soundtrack which includes Willy DeVille's "Storybook Love"  Inconceivable!

I'm On Strike

Yeah, here's the problem with this writer strike in Hollywood; You're killing your own shows.

Look at what the strikes in major league baseball did to that sport.  Same thing is going to happen here, you're going to lose viewers, ratings and advertising dollars.  I'm watching some shows now out of habit like "ER" and "Numb3rs," which are good, but if they go away I might not be that interested when they come back.

On the other side of that, there are new shows this season that could very easily lose any built up goodwill.  There are some promising shows like "Life," "Chuck," "Journeyman" and "Moonlight" that will get buried if they have to take a multi-week, or longer, break.  And that would be a shame.

If something doesn't pop with shows like "Prison Break" and even "Heroes," they could very easily go away.  And don't even get me started on shows like "Lost" and "24."  It takes commitment to watch those two shows and with this strike "24" is already going to be postponed.

Who knows how badly "Lost" will be affected.  Shit, last year that show took a good ass-whooping because of it's 4 month break.  This season we were already going to see a shortened run so as not to have a break, now this strike is putting that already short season in jeopardy.

Look, I like to get paid as much as the next guy, but the WGA is just screwing themselves.

I have 4 seasons of "Smallville" left to watch on DVD.  I have two seasons of "Veronica Mars" to re-watch before getting to season 3 and I would be more than happy to catch up on three seasons of "One Tree Hill" or all 10 seasons of "Stargate SG:1" on DVD.  Hell, I have a long list of movies that I want to watch that I just haven't gotten around to.  Strike for too long and fuck it, I'll go somewhere else for my entertainment.

Halloween

The first rule of Finley's Halloween Party is don't be the first to pass out.

There might be other rules but that's the most important as a certain Lowes employee found out this past Saturday night.  Better you than me, brother.

In other news, drinking till 6:00AM is always fun.  I tried a different idea this year though, I didn't get hammered.  It makes for a much more interesting night when you watch everyone else get sloshed.  Judging by the videos that I watched of previous Halloween and Birthday parties, I've been the drunk one enough times.

And I'll never look at Mad Dog 20/20 in the same way again.  And you'll never look at a blue kangaroo in the same way again.

TV Season

Let's wrap up the Thursday and Friday night shows of the new 2007 season.  I didn't bother to get to this earlier because there isn't a lot to talk about over these two nights.

Thursday night, especially, is almost unchanged.  Matter of fact, the only new show is on ABC and it's called "Big Shots."  It follows the powerhouse lineup of estrogen known as "Ugly Betty" and "Grey's Anatomy."  It's been billed, basically, as a "Sex in the City" for men.  Fail.

In good news, "My Name is Earl" is really keeping up with the gags and is as funny as ever.  "The Office" has been okay and I'm happy with the season so far.  "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" is also doing well and while I would have been okay with Sara getting offed in the season opener, it's been a good run this season.

I'm also still watching "ER" but I really don't know why.  I think it's a lack of another choice.

Friday night has always been busy for me between the regular networks, USA and Sci-Fi and this year is no different.

First off, let me just tell you how good "Friday Night Lights" has been this season.  There have been a couple slow spots (I really don't need Jason Street's storyline) but overall it's just as good as last year.  I hope everyone is watching it because it's one of the best written shows on TV.

"Moonlight" on CBS is an okay show but we've already suffered through some of the vampire cliché stories (our hero had to bite the human he loves to save his life...blah, blah, blah).  Let's move on to territory that other shows haven't done, and done better *cough-Angel-cough*.  On the plus side, almost weekly doses of Jason Dohring is a good thing!  And while Sophia Myles is one hot chick, I almost feel sorry for her getting type cast in what has to be one of the smallest niche genres ever.  She was Erika in Underworld and Underworld: Evolution, Sophie in "Dracula" and now Beth on "Moonlight."  Maybe she gives good blood?

Anyway, "Numb3s" is still cranking along well and the Sci-Fi shows haven't been so bad, including "Flash Gordon."  Still, I'm looking forward to the new seasons of USA's "Psych" and Sci-Fi's "Battlestar Galactica."

I think the only new show besides "Moonlight" is "Women's Murder Club" on ABC.  Hot broads, including Angie Harmon, solving crimes.  Hmm...I'll take another dose of Sophia Myles thank you.

Speaking of...

How about this, the Parents Television Council has released a list of the best and worst TV shows for kids.

The list is actually perfect.  You take the PTCs list and throw out the green and yellow shows and tune into the red light shows knowing that you will be suitably entertained with well written, acted and directed shows that will broaden your horizons and make you a more well-rounded individual.  Except for "Grey's Anatomy" which has no redeeming qualities except for Katherine Heigl's boobs.  Still not worth an hour a week.

FYI, here are the lists:

Green

  • Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
  • Sunday Night Football
  • NBC's Deal or No Deal
  • Fox's Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader
  • NBC's The Singing Bee
  • Fox's Don't Forget the Lyrics
  • Fox’s American Idol
  • ABC's Supernanny

Yellow

  • ABC's America's Funniest Home Videos
  • ABC's Dancing with the Stars
  • Fox's So You Think You Can Dance
  • CBS' Amazing Race
  • CBS' Survivor
  • Fox’s The Simpsons.

Red

  • Fox's House
  • ABC's Grey's Anatomy
  • NBC's Heroes
  • CBS' CSI
    Fox' American Dad
  • Fox's Family Guy

Okay, I have to admit that "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is actually a worthwhile show.  But do you really want your kids raised watching a bunch of cutthroat bitches and a nasty British guy cram shitty music down your throat?  Just say no to "American Idol."
